Britannia Parking: The 'Double Dip' Scam

Upload Your Ticket

The "Double Dip" Problem

Britannia Parking relies heavily on ANPR cameras at entry and exit points. A common error is the "Double Dip":

  • You enter at 9:00 and leave at 9:30.
  • You return at 16:00 and leave at 17:00.
  • ANPR records: Entry 9:00, Exit 17:00 = 8-hour "overstay"

Why This Happens

ANPR systems can fail to capture exit events, especially when:

  • You exit behind another vehicle (tailgating)
  • The camera is obscured or malfunctioning
  • Lighting conditions are poor
  • Your plate is partially obscured

How to Prove a Double Visit

  • Bank/card statements: Show two separate transactions at the location
  • Receipts: Timestamped proof of two visits
  • Loyalty card data: Ask the retailer for your visit history
  • Phone location data: Google Timeline or similar

Your Appeal Argument

"I made two separate visits to this location on [date]. Your ANPR system failed to record my first exit and second entry. The attached evidence proves I was not present continuously. This is an ANPR error, not an overstay."

Request Their Evidence

Ask Britannia to provide:

  • Full ANPR log for your registration that day
  • Photos from all camera events
  • Proof their system was functioning correctly

If they can't prove the system worked correctly, the charge should be cancelled.
